I'M A GIRLY REVIEW

Updated: Mar 23, 2019

Dolls! dolls! dolls! I can't believe that at thirty something years old, i'm still super excited about dolls. I loved them as a kid and I still do. The I'M A GIRLY doll, is that doll collection you wish you had as a kid. I'm so glad my daughter gets to enjoy playing with dolls just as I did as a child. Only that the doll collection she gets to enjoy are much better and of higher quality than those I played with in the past. Now this blog post is not about me and my childhood doll fantasies, haha! it is more about the I'M A GIRLY brand and our experience with the dolls.

I'M A GIRLY brand is a young company from Switzerland. All their products are made from top quality materials and the packaging can be reused as furniture or an accessory for the Fashion-Doll. They started the Kids4Kids Design-Team to empower young creatives to expand their imagination and be part of the design process. The team consists of girls and boys between the ages of 9 to 13 years old. They represent the brand's core audience and provide them valuable input on current trends and personal interests. How cool is that!

If you were wondering why the name of the brand had 'LY' at the end of the word 'GIRL' that is because it is a Swiss brand and they regularly add ‘ly’ to the end of words because they like how it sounds.  ‘Girly’ doesn’t have the same connotations in their culture and the brand name simply means ‘I’m a Girl’.

We were kindly invited to the launch of I'M A GIRLY brand in the UK on 17 November, at 41 Portland place, Marylebone London. It was such an amazing event and we got a chance to play with and experience the dolls for the first time. Nina was a brilliant hair and fashion stylist, personalising the hairdos and outfits of her two favourite dolls - Jasmine and Lola. We took lots of pictures and some kids had the chance to win prizes, including the opportunity to be part of the KIDS4KIDS panels creating new looks for I’M A GIRLY! It was such a fab event and we also got a chance to meet Tiana the youtube star.

Nina and I absolutely love all the dolls. We were kindly sent the Lola doll with a box of extra outfits and a brown wig for a review. The fact that the dolls' wig can be changed to suit your mood, is not only innovative, but is the first of its kind. Lola has lovely, long purple hair. She is immediately an eye-catcher. We love her glittering pink dress (Nina loves all things pink and princessy, i'm sure that was what attracted her to the Lola doll.)

Nina loves ballet dancing, so it was nice to know that the Lola doll likes dressage and ballet dancing as part of her favorite hobbies, because she is very sporty and ambitious. Lola is 48 cm (approx. 16 1/2 inch) tall.

What I really love about the brand is that they have brilliantly considered diversity and inclusion in their doll collection. It is such a relatable collection that you would find something to love about them, either via skin tone, hair, style or interests. Little kids are so alike and at the same time unalike, so it was really nice to see the dolls being so much alike and unalike at the same time. The doll collection features realistic proportions and a range of hair colours, hair textures and skin tones. Our Lola doll came with trendy accessories such as ballet shoes, boots, silver sandals, sunglasses, tops, ballet skirt, white jeggings, hanger for the clothes, tote bag, backpack and an extra wig for Nina to play with. It is every girls dream doll, no doubt about it!

I am so impressed with the brand and I love what they are all about. Nina was able to see a resemblance between her interests, her skin tone and proportions with that of the dolls. She was able to feel an attraction to Lola and lucy because of their ballet dresses and fashion style and she felt like she could relate with Lola's brown skin tone. She also loves Jasmine and Kayla dolls as if they are her soul sisters with unique style and hair. To be honest, we would love to have each of the dolls because they are all so special, unique, diverse, high quality and irresistable.

Our Lola doll also has cute ear holes for popping an ear ring into. It is so cute. Honestly, the dolls are top quality. You would see the attention to detail put into each of the dolls. There is no other doll on the market that can be compared to I'M A GIRLY dolls. I'M A GIRLY beats every other doll on the market - hands down! I'M A GIRLY dolls are simply the best and most innovative dolls in the world.

You can click here to discover more about the brand. The high-end fashion-dolls are available at Harrods and Hamleys. Cost of the dolls retail at £109 except for Lola and Jasmine which cost £129. It is so worth it! Thank you so much Britmums and I'M A GIRLY for giving us the opportunity to experience the dolls. It has been an absolute joy to play with. Thank you all for reading.

Love,

Ezi x
