#weareallinthistogether has been our watchword since the outbreak of this horrendous pandemic. As you all know, we've all been advised to stay home in order to save the NHS and curb the spread of the virus. Its been an uncertain and challenging time for us as we don't know how long this pandemic will last, but we are hopeful that it will all be over soon. Since the kids are home and learning must go on, I've decided to home school them (which to be fair, i've always home schooled them since they were babies) and this is how a day of homeschooling goes for us.
I typically do not follow a strict routine because I'm more of a go with the flow type of person and a strict routine would be uncomfortable or pretty much unrealistic to me. Our day starts with the kids waking up first. I like to give them ample time to wake up, so they can wake up happy and refreshed. Milan wakes up before Nina, then we have breakfast which is usually a cereal. we then have PE lessons with Joe before we check any latest homework from the kids class teachers. I also teach the kids with the help of Letterland books, which has been an amazing learning resource for the kids. I've noticed some improvements in their handwriting, literacy skills, phonics, spellings and grammar.
After their morning learning exercises, they get some snacks whilst I get lunch ready for them. After lunch, Milan naps sometimes but if not, I let them play in the house or in the garden/watch tv or just hang out with me for a bit. later in the day, I read a story to them or let Nina read a story to Milan and this helps her perfect her reading skills whilst improving Milan's listening skills. I always like to ask them what they've learnt from the story as a way to ensure that they are being attentive to what is being read.
I then get dinner ready whilst the kids snack on something as we await dinner. They get some screentime and it could either be their favourite kid youtubers show or an educative kids show. After the kids have dinner, we head off to bath and then bedtime. This is just an example of a typical home schooling day in our lives. I hope you have enjoyed this post. Thank you so much for reading and I hope you all stay safe and stay home.
